1 Kilometer = 1000 Meters
1/2 a Kilometer = 500 Meters
1 Meter = 100 Centimeters
1 Centimeter = 10 Millimeters
Water boils at 100 degrees celsius and freezes at 0 degrees celsius.
1 Ton = 1000 Kilograms
1 Kilogram = 1000 Grams
1/2 a Kilogram = 500 Grams
You get the point. Now, let’s check this:
1 Mile = 5280 Feet = 1760 Yards
1/2 a Mile = 2640 Feet = 880 Yards
1 Feet = 12 Inches
1 Inch = Sorry you can go there…
Water boils at 212 degrees fahrenheit and freezes at 32 degrees fahrenheit. Huh?
1 Ton = 2000.034 Pounds
1 Pound = 16 Ounces
1/2 a Pound = 8 Ounces
1 Ounce = You can’t do this…
It looks like someone just threw random numbers and names and put together the imperial system. Why would anyone be comfortable using this. Why do I need to measure things like: turn in 1 and 1/6 of a mile. How far is that? How about: turn in 1.2 kilometers. I know exactly how much is that. Or, that wall is 5 and 3/4 - give me a freaking calculator so I can know exactly how long it is. Now consider that the wall is 2.3 meters. I know what the .3 means, it makes sense.
Anyway, I think it’s time we abolish the imperial system and go metric. Make our lives less complicated.
Have a great day.
