Debate for Leaders - JCI Academy

JCI Buzău just wraped up another great event with focus on leadership, public speaking and debate skills.

The Academy had three amazing trainers: Laura Tășchină, Filipe Carrera and Graham Hanlon. During the presentations and the workshops the energy was fantastic.

The most important part of the training were the two contests: public speaking and debate.

For the public speaking part, every participant had to give a 3 minute speech on a topic of his choice and only 3 were selected for the final round with a given subject. Filipe was the judge and also a vote of the participants for every speech was taken into account.

The debate competition was a knock-out tournament with teams of 3 Jaycees. Graham was The Chairman of the sessions and once again Filipe was adjudicator helped by Bogdan David (JCI Buzău President). During this practice, not only we learned about the rules of a JCI debate championship, but we also were involved first hand in the process of supporting or dismissing an argument, exactly like in a government versus opposition debate.

The experience was truly useful for me, I learned many new things, I practiced public speaking for two days and I met great people from local chapters all over Romania.

Congratulations for the organizers and all the people involved. It was a memorable experience.
